Preserve Your Past provides a full range of photo conservation, photo archiving, and photo restoration services, dedicated to protecting and restoring old photographs that have faded with age or have become stained, torn, burned, or damaged by water.
Restoring old photographs, particularly those of great personal value or those depicting loved ones who are no longer with us, can be an extremely personal and moving experience. Sebastian understands the emotional significance these photographs often hold. He carefully listens to his clients, considers their suggestions and wishes, and strives to fulfill their expectations and instructions.
Every restoration project begins with a consultation to assess the condition and extent of damage to a photograph, discuss the client's requirements, and provide advice on the techniques, methods, and materials needed to restore the photograph and bring the image as close as possible to its original appearance

Preserve Your Past was founded in 2002 by Sebastian Wintermute, who recognized that countless photographs and documents of tremendous personal, sentimental, and historical value are lost to time each year. Driven by a lifelong passion for history, particularly family history, Sebastian combined his expertise in photography, restoration, conservation, and digital imaging to help individuals preserve their visual heritage when professional, museum-level conservation services were unavailable or beyond their reach.
Through exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to quality, Sebastian earned the trust of private clients across the country, as well as some of the world's most respected companies and organizations. Over the years, he established himself as one of the nation's leading photo restoration specialists. - How long does it take to have a photograph restored?
- How much does it cost to restore a photograph?
- Do I need to make an appointment?
- Can you restore the original photograph instead of making a digital copy?
- Do you keep digital copies, and for how long?
To schedule a consultation please e-mail the following:
- Client's name and contact information
- Scans or clear snapshots of the items to be restored
(Please e-mail all images in JPG or TIFF formats, resolution 300dpi) - Brief descriptions of the items including sizes, colors, and materials
- Any requests and suggestions concerning restoration treatment
